Hi there. I’m Sam Escobar, a writer and editor based in New York City. I have over 10 years of experience in editorial publishing and content strategy, focusing on the beauty, culture, and health & wellness spheres. I enjoy nerding out over SEO and will happily get your favorite selfies to rank higher.

Most recently, I served as the site director of Allure Magazine at Condé Nast, where I worked for seven years. I’ve also held roles as the senior commerce editor at Bustle (BDG), beauty editor at Good Housekeeping (Hearst), and managing editor of women's brands at The Gloss (Defy Media).

My writing has been published by Esquire, Business Insider, MEL Magazine, The Observer, and Cosmopolitan. I was named one of Brooklyn Magazine's "30 under 30" in 2018. The Daily Mail wrote me up twice and only got weird once, so I consider that a win, too.

I’ve performed poetry at venues in New York and Michigan. In 2016, I co-edited Kill Your Darlings, Tweet Yr Drafts, a chapbook of casual love poetry born from the strange, wonderful, pre-Elon epoch of Twitter.

Prior to media, I worked as a makeup artist and did a stint of telemarketing, which may explain why I prefer calling over texting. In my spare time, I can be found practicing calligraphy, staring into a telescope, practicing Russian, and taking too many photos of my two cats, Rorschach and Julius.
